THANK YOU!

Has it been 33 years already? There is no truer example of the adage, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” Who knew in 1992 that something Dr. Patty Smith introduced as a spark to the MISD curriculum would even be around all this time? Not only did it survive, but it thrived and became a model for other festivals throughout the country.
“The Midland festival is the national model for storytelling applied to education.” Jimmy Neil Smith, Founder and President/CEO – International Storytelling Center,Jonesborough, Tennessee

What we discovered over the years is that story isn’t just for children/students – but the oral tradition of sharing a story draws us all together. Because of the excellence of the story presentation offered, residents of Midland and the surrounding areas have come to expect and anticipate that each year in December we will get to enjoy one of the most well respected and longest existing festivals in the country. We’ve been drawn together to experience the warmth of stories that remind us of how much we have in common and we reminisce and delve into memories often long-forgotten that make us smile.

The Board of Directors of the Midland Storytelling Festival would like to say “THANK YOU” to every sponsor and donor. There is no way it could happen without each of you who support this type of family-oriented entertainment. Your warm smiles and continued enthusiastic response and attendance is what encourages us to do it again and again. The story continues and each one of you – friends – are a part of it. Thank you so much.
